On October 25, Consul General Zhao Shiren attended the third anniversary ceremony of Orange Line Metro Train Operations. Transport Minister of Punjab Ibrahim Murad and Secretary Javed Qazi and others were also present.
Consul General Zhao said the Orange Line, as an early harvest project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the first urban rail transit project in Pakistan, embodies its advancement and value with its practical actions and brilliant performance, showcases Chinese standards, Chinese technology and Chinese equipment, and has become a milestone of China-Pakistan friendship and cooperation. Over the past three years, the Orange Line has accomplished safe transportation of 120 million passengers, and realized localization of operation and maintenance. In addition to fulfill its corporate social responsibility, Orange Line has created job opportunities for the local people and brought tangible benefits to the people in Punjab, which adds new substance to China-Pakistan cooperation in the new era. Last week, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar attended the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing and visited Xinjiang, achieving fruitful results by signing a series of cooperation agreements and MoUs. China-Pakistan cooperation and the CPEC are about to take a new step forward. The Consulate General is willing to continue to promote more successful projects like the Orange Line to be inaugurated in Punjab, become new landmarks and permanent landscape, and help build a closer China-Pakistan community of shared future for common development and prosperity.
Murad said that the friendship between Pakistan and China has a long history, and the two countries have mutually beneficial cooperation and share common progress. The Orange Line project is a concrete embodiment of the close ties and deepening cooperation between Pakistan and China. It is hoped that both countries will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation so as to deliver more real gains to the people of Pakistan and make greater contributions to the Pakistan-China friendship.
