On March 13, 2024, Consul General Mr. Zhao Shiren arrived in Faisalabad, the third largest city in Pakistan, visited the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, met with Mr. Muhammad Adrees, Chairman of the SITARA Chemical Group, as well as other representatives from the local industrial and commercial sectors, and visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and its Confucius Institute in order to discuss strengthening bilateral practical cooperation and exchanges.

    CG Zhao Shiren sent Ramadan blessings to all walks of life in Faisalabad, and said that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners, and have always been supporting each other. China attaches great importance to and actively promotes the construction of the CPEC projects, and steadily pushes forward the second phase of CPEC, namely industrial and agricultural cooperation as well as  “Small Yet Smart” projects to improve local infrastructure and people’s livelihood. Faisalabad, known as the “Manchester of Pakistan”, is a famous textile industry and agriculture hub in Pakistan, playing an important role in expanding trade between the two countries. UAF, with a long history, has been committed to strengthening the exchanges of agricultural technology and training cooperation with China. The affiliated Confucius Institute has done a lot of work in Chinese language education and enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. The Consulate General is willing to provide support and facilitation for Faisalabad to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China.

FCCI and UAF warmly welcomed CG Zhao Shiren’s visit, positively commented on the practical cooperation between China and Pakistan. They looked forward to getting on board the “express train”of China’s development, and continuously strengthening cooperation and exchanges in the fields of economy, trade and education.
