On March 30, Consul General Zhao Shiren met with the Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar at the Consulate General to exchange views on strengthening the security protection of the Chinese in Punjab and of the Consulate.

Usman expressed deep condolences for the victims in the terrorist attack on the Dasu Hydropower Project, saying that the Punjab police will remain highly vigilant and take stronger measures to protect Chinese citizens, enterprises and institutions.

CG Zhao thanked Dr. Usman for visiting the Consulate General to offer condolences and brief the latest progress of the investigation. He said that the “3.26” terrorist attack causing many casualties was a blatant attack on the traditional friendship and all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan. Pakistan needs to speed up the comprehensive investigation, bring perpetrators to swift justice, and coordinate with China to advance the follow-up to ensure that such incident will not happen again. The Punjab police and law enforcement agencies should further strengthen the exchange and cooperation mechanism with the Consulate and take all possible measures to protect the interests, securing safety of the Chinese personnel in Punjab.
