On April 1, former Pakistani Foreign Minister Kasuri and former Finance Minister Salman visited Chinese Consulate General in Lahore to offer condolences over the five Chinese personnel who died in a terrorist attack on March 26.

Kasuri expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the Chinese government, saying that Chinese engineers have made positive contributions to promoting practical cooperation between the two countries. The demise of Chinese personnel due to the terrorist attack is tragic. The plot that terrorists sabotage the Pak-China friendship will never succeed. Salman said that upholding Pak-China friendship is a cross-party and cross-sector consensus in Pakistan. Pakistan and China need to strengthen cooperation and resolutely eliminate all terrorists from inside and outside Pakistan.

CG Zhao Shiren thanked Kasuri and Salman for coming to the Consulate to express condolences, and said that China opposes any form of terrorism and firmly supports Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts. Pakistan should meet China halfway and take more strong and effective measures to safeguard the interests, security and safety of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan.
