On August 30, 2026, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab, arrived back in Lahore at the conclusion of her official visit to China. Consul General of China in Lahore Sun Yan went to the airport to receive her.

  CG Sun warmly welcomed back Ms. Maryam and her delegation and congratulated them on the successful conclusion of their visit to China. Ms. Maryam remarked that the visit had been smooth and cordial. She deeply felt the warmth of the Pakistan‑China All‑Weather friendship and expressed sincere gratitude for the thoughtful and warm reception shown by the Chinese side. She stated that Pakistan stands ready to work with China to continuously deepen practical cooperation between Punjab Province and Chinese local governments in agriculture, education, digital industry and other fields.

  During her stay in China, Ms. Maryam held separate meetings with Chen Xiaojiang, Secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee, and Xu Lin, Secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee. She attended the 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo and paid field visits to a number of key Chinese enterprises engaged in agricultural processing, information and communications, artificial intelligence and other sectors, where she held discussions with the management of these companies. The two sides reached important consensus on deepening cooperation between Punjab Province and China in modern agriculture, green mining, digital economy, education and people to people exchanges.
