On September 9, 2026, Consul General Sun Yan visited Multan in southern Punjab, and met with Mr. Fuad Hashim Rabbani, Additional Chief Secretary of South Punjab.

  Mr. Rabbani welcomed CG Sun Yan’s visit and spoke highly of the ironclad Pakistan-China friendship. He stated that the South Punjab Secretariat attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and looks forward to strengthening local-level cooperation with China to boost the development momentum of South Punjab and deliver more tangible outcomes under the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China. Senior officials of the Secretariat overseeing agriculture, livestock, healthcare, education and other sectors respectively briefed on the development status and cooperation potential of South Punjab.

  CG Sun Yan noted that South Punjab possesses abundant natural resources and huge market potential. China stands ready to strengthen communication with the South Punjab Secretariat, implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, advance the construction of CPEC 2.0, expand practical cooperation in agriculture, industry, education, health and other sectors, and launch more “small and beautiful” livelihood projects to bring greater benefits to local people.
