On April 25, Consul General Zhao Shiren met with the new Minister Shafay Hussain for Industry & Commerce Punjab in PBIT. Secretary Industry & Commerce Ehsan Bhutta, CEO PBIT Jalal Hassan, and Commercial Consul of the Consulate General Yan Yang were also present.

CG Zhao congratulated Shafay on his new posting and hoped that the Ministry, under his leadership, would continue to safeguard China-related interests, align development with security, create a business-friendly environment for more Chinese investors. CG Zhao said that the Consulate is willing to maintain close contacts with the Ministry and provide as much assistance as possible, and promote the steady development of China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation.

Shafay said that the Punjab government attaches importance to economic recovery, agricultural development, more job opportunities and improvement of people’s livelihood. He hoped to further promote trade, investment and technology transfer between Pakistan and China, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and build stronger economic relations between Pakistan and China.

The two sides also had in-depth discussions on strengthening educational & technological training and collaboration in solar power industry.
